Global EV Sales Ranking and Analysis by Major Markets

H1 2025 global EV sales rankings released. China leads by a wide margin, Europe slows, emerging markets grow rapidly.

H1 2025 global electric vehicle market data is released, with significant differences in performance across major markets. The Chinese market continues to maintain its leading advantage, the European market growth slows, while emerging markets become new growth engines.

The Chinese market remains the world’s largest EV market. H1 sales exceeded 4 million units, a year-on-year increase of about 30%, with market penetration exceeding 40%. BYD, SAIC, Geely and other independent brands dominate.

The European market saw EV sales of about 1.5 million units in H1, a year-on-year increase of about 10%, with growth slowing significantly. The main reasons are subsidy reduction and macroeconomic pressure. Germany, Norway, France, and the UK are the top four EV markets in Europe.

The US market saw EV sales of about 800,000 units in H1, a year-on-year increase of about 15%. Tesla still holds the largest market share, but GM, Ford, Hyundai-Kia and other brands are also strengthening their electric offensive.

Emerging markets are growing rapidly. EV sales in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and other regions all grew by more than 50% year-on-year, becoming new highlights of the global market.

By brand, BYD, Tesla, Volkswagen-Audi, SAIC-GM-Wuling, and Hyundai-Kia rank among the top five in global sales. The global market share of Chinese brands is continuously increasing.
